Leading integrated producer of polymers and fibers, primarily for nylon, spandex, and polyester applications, has a career opportunity for a Process Control Engineer in LaPorte, TX.LaPorte is located on the Houston Ship Channel, about 25 minutes from downtown Houston and near the Johnson Space Center, Galveston, and many other Gulf Coast locations of interest. Responsibilities include: - Utilizing process control techniques to significantly enhance plant operation and profitability.
- Monitoring of site process control systems for optimal operation.
- Providing technical knowledge/support to Polymer and Monomer Areas including basic troubleshooting and facilities modifications.
- Working with production, maintenance, and first-line supervision to define and resolve problems within the production facility.
- Providing input into process-related safety, quality, and environmental incident investigations.
- Applying fundamental knowledge of process control upgrades to forecast costs of implementing process control modifications.
- Lead process control projects to improve plant performance and profitability. This would include use of advanced process control systems to advance plant capability.
- Leveraging local and corporate technical resources in troubleshooting and facilities/process modifications.
- Interacting with vendors and suppliers to develop/obtain equipment specifications and information.
- Participating on Process Hazard Analysis teams.
- Strong organizational and planning skills.
- Strong/demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a team environment with operators, mechanics, and exempt professionals.
- Interest in developing others to allow for transfer of capabilities to the operating and maintenance organizations
Education REQUIRED: B.S. in Engineering
Experience and Skills REQUIRED:
- 3+ years experience in applied process control, including use of advanced process control techniques.
- Experience working with Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel and Powerpoint ) such as: 1. Using Word to create and modify documents and tables 2. Using Excel to create & modify spreadsheets 3. Creating and presenting data using Powerpoint
- Experience effectively managing multiple tasks and programs for timely completion
Experience and Skills PREFERRED: - B.S. in Chemical Engineering - 5+ years applied process control experience - Polymer process engineering experience - PLC experience - Experience with DCS systems, including building points, schematics, and CL code - Experience troubleshooting and resolving process problems
