Shell has been operating in Gabon for fifty years and has a strong portfolio in the South of the country. The Rabi, Toucan and Koula fields are located approximately 50 kilometers north of the Gamba field, where the company also has its headquarters. The company recently opened an office in Libreville and just under fifty staff working in support function jobs now work there.
We are currently looking for a Gabonese national to join the team as HSE Advisor - HSE Engineering.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for the improvement of HSE performance in Shell Gamba and support the HSE departments in the implementation of consistent HSE focus; systems and standards within the Company. The key tasks are:
- Provide an overview of staff HSE Competency requirements and status of competency of all Shell Engineering staff
- Prepare overview of competence status of staff and contractors in HSE Critical Positions
- Focal Point for implementation of HSE Mandatory Training within Engineering including maintenance of Training Status Register
- Facilitate the Induction for New Staff and Visitors to the Engineering facilities
- Monitor and drive implementation of the Engineering HSE plan
- Advise and Review of Contractors HSE plans to follow the Shell Gabon HSE guidelines
- Communicate learning points from incident investigations
- Facilitate and attend the project team HSE meetings and toolbox meetings
- Coordinate monthly HSE Meetings with Engineering Department Contractors
Requirements:
- The ideal candidate must be a Graduate in Physical Sciences, Engineering or related fields with minimum of 5 years active experience in EP
- Have a good understanding of local, national and international regulatory and legislative regimes especially Safety and health laws
- Must possess effective communication and interpersonal skills to interact across levels throughout the company and the various external parties
- Candidate must be a Gabonese national and proficiency in English language is an advantage
