This position is targeting an experienced Mechanical Engineer with a practical aptitude and knowledge and experience of working in QA and QC. The individuals will be required to work with minimal technical support or guidance. This position includes Performance Improvement responsibilities related to Inspection and Corrosion Management. Managing the day to day inspection and Corrosion Management activities at the Khazzan/Makaram EWT facilities.
The incumbent will be an integral part of a multi-disciplinary team reporting to the Senior Integrity Engineer Leader. Provide Inspection and NDT support to the Operations Team in support of the daily operation of the Khazzan/Makaram EWT facilities and small projects.
Key Accountabilities
Develop and coordinate the execution of scheduled inspection and NDT work packs. • Carry out visual inspections of mechanical equipment, pipework and pipelines as required. • Monitor the activities of the inspection, NDT and corrosion management contractors to ensure safe working practices and compliance with the requirements of the BP Oman Integrity Management and the minimum requirements of their own procedures and processes. • Interpret and review the inspection, NDT and monitoring reports submitted by the Contractors and report to the Senior Integrity Engineer recommending any supplementary inspections, repairs or changes to the inspection interval. • Ensure that all reports and results are accurately recorded. • Check the experience and qualifications of the Contractor’s field inspection staff. • Participate in vendor pre-qualification assessments. • Carry out Pre-inspection meetings, vendor trouble shooting visits, Factory Acceptance Tests, Site Acceptance Tests Develop as required. • Review drawings for new items, checking Inspection and NDE specification and to ensure in-service inspect ability. • Review vendor quality plans and add BP Oman inspection requirements. • Liaise with Contractor Inspection personnel to review forthcoming Inspection and Test Plans. • Report on a monthly basis to the Senior Integrity Engineer. • Report by the event any significant quality or vendor programme problems to the Senior Integrity Engineer.

Knowledge of Inspection and Non Destructive testing techniques Knowledge of Risk Based Inspection Knowledge of common mechanical failure mechanisms in the Oil and gas Industry. University level education Knowledge of Corrosion Management
