Role Synopsis  BP seek a passionate Environmental Advisor to join their team. The successful candidate will report to the New Ventures HSSE Team Leader Global Wells Organisation.  This role is to support a large programme of work known as Ceduna as well as providing technical environmental support and assurance to New Ventures (Green Field Drilling) during the review and assessment of new access commercial opportunities.  There is a possibility of moving to Perth in the future as the Ceduna project matures ( if the successful incumbent wishes to do so)  The purpose of the role is to: • Provide an expert resource for the early identification and management of key environmental/social impacts in seismic and green-field drilling projects.  • To ensure that the BP Group environmental/social processes and requirements are incorporated as appropriate throughout AXA and New Ventures (Green Field Drilling) activities.   S&OR 2011  Key accountabilities  • To prepare concise inserts for ATNs and FMs in support of new license applications, to identify to project management the main environmental and social management challenges  • To provide general environmental support to the New Ventures/Green Field Drilling project planning activities and to integrate good practice from other BP projects.  • To provide a high-level assessment of the environmental and social challenges associated with potential new geographical opportunities for conventional and unconventional resources.  • To provide ‘forward-planning’ such that the appropriate studies and documentation are in place in advance of seismic and drilling programmes and for transition into GPO.  • To provide environmental oversight in the development of operational procedures for seismic acquisition • To actively participate in risk assessment processes to identify and manage environmental hazards associated with seismic acquisition and exploration drilling. • To assist with business planning and PSCM activities (e.g. external resource identification/screening, budget advice, tender preparation and proposal evaluation, technical recommendation) • To maintain regular contact with the S&OR-E&P Environmental Technology Programme Manager, such that the technology programme can remain sensitive to the future requirements of the AXA and New Ventures groups.  • To establish and maintain a network of contacts across BP in the E/S disciplines via the E&P Environmental Community of Practice and other formal and informal network

Key Challenges
- Ensuring that the BP Group environmental/social processes are incorporated throughout the organisation
- Influencing and educating teams of the importance of environmental support to drilling project planning activities.

Essential Education

• A degree in Environmental Sciences or a related discipline.
• Professional qualification in Environmental management or a related discipline

Essential experience and job requirements

• Computer literacy, specifically knowledge in MS Office Programmes, particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint. 
• Good communication and presentation skills
• Good team working skills
• Self motivated, with capability to work with minimum supervision and accustomed to being in positions of responsibility and accountability; proactive; able to work well under sustained pressure and have the ability and desire to take the lead on HSE issues.

Desirable criteria & qualifications

• Strong communication and organisational skills
• Ability to facilitate meetings and workshops for goal setting, resolution and team building
• Highly adaptable, capable of strategic decision making under pressure

 

Relocation is not available but travel of up to 50% is required.
