Job Details: Electrical Engineer

EDUCATION: BS degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology.

EXPERIENCE:

Zero to five years experience in similar industry (prior to degree is satisfactory). Strong experience with industrial controls and circuits, as well as domestic and intrnational electrical codes, including hazardous areas. Understanding of grounding, shielding and lightning protections principles.

SKILLS: Demonstrated ability to apply advanced laws, principles, theorems & mathematics or industry knowledge in the improvement & development of technologies. Knowledge of PC, Windows Office Software. Ability to use AutoCAD Electrical is a plus.

SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE: Specialist knowledge of at least one FMC product line or significant knowledge of multiple technologies, products & applications. Working knowledge of competing & alternative technologies.

OTHER: Solid understanding of internal economic factors affecting the division’s business.

TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:

Ongoing/continuing education related to critical/major functions of this position. SAFETY REQUIREMENTS: Must meet safety requirements of hazardous areas and presonal protective equipment.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:

DIRECT REPORTS: None Indicate internal/external contacts and purpose of contacts.

INDIRECT REPORTS: Drafters and Designers (numbers vary depending on business activity), performing the detail design and drafting. Daily interface with internal facility personnel; particularly Project Management, Procurement and Test for information exchange, and like contacts with customers and vendors/suppliers. Frequent interaction with fabrication subcontractor. INTERPERSONAL/COMMUNICATIONS: Consistently demonstrates leadership ability. Regularly leads one or more professionals &/or technicians on a project basis. Interfaces with technical professionals outside of the local organization. Solicits understanding & support of line managers for major projects & uses available technical resources. Regularly sponsors projects to higher management. Has developed strong customer contacts and is viewed as a strong resource for sales to leverage higher level customer relationships. Demonstrates strong customer presentation skills. Ensures an understanding of business goals & creates energy & action toward those goals. SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES / ACCOUNTABILITY: Responsible for performing “the PROJECT’S engineering” within project budget. Problem Solving: Develops unique solutions for complex technical problems that may include the design of new systems or development of solutions having few or no precedents. Uses creativity & independent judgment to formulate results based on principles, experience & constructive thinking. Anticipates potential problems, proactively solves complex problems through creative thinking & internal/external resources. WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Spends the majority of work time in a temperature-controlled environment. Upon occasion may be called to go into the field where person’s expertise is required. In the latter case may be exposed to possible hazards including high noise, heavy machinery, and inclement weather – where safety equipment is required. May be called upon for domestic and international travel.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Frequent sitting and operating a computer and communicating with customers and vendors/suppliers. When it is necessary to go into the field, walking, standing, and climbing (onto equipment) may/can be experienced. MAJOR RESPONSIBILTIES: PRODUCE SYSTEM MANUFACTURING DOCUMENTS: 1. Review, interpret & implement customer specs. 2. Produce design diagrams and calculations. 3. Create drawing list. 4. Prepare material requisitions. 5. Prepare system bills of material. 6. Finalize design details. 7. Maintain schedule. 8. Maintain cost to complete. 9. Interface with project manager, Q.A. and Test, manufacturing, Purchasing.

PRODUCE SYSTEM QUOTATIONS:

1.      Review specifications. 2. Produce sketches. 3. Quote hours required.

2.      PRODUCE ACCURATE WORK: 1. Check and cross-check output for conformance to requirements without excessive labor or material requirements.
